Luckovich Releases Two Cartoons for Newspaper Project
By Rob Tornoe | March 3rd, 2009 | PERMALINK
Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Mike Luckovich has created two newspaper related cartoons for the Newspaper Project, a group formed to promote newspapers.
The cartoons coincide with two new ads released by the Newspaper Project, which emphasize the fact that newspapers were America’s first portable information device, and they have been “defending freedom daily since 1776.”
The group, started by Parade’s Randy Siegel, Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., Donna Barrett, Philadelphia Newspapers’ Brian Tierney and Jay Smith, the former head of Cox Newspapers, was launched in the beginning of February with an ad that appeared in over 400 newspapers across the country.
The ad explained that more people read newspapers than watch the Super Bowl.
The cartoons and the ads can be downloaded for publication at the Newspaper Project.
