Canadian Cartoonist Sings About Profession’s ‘Better Days’
By Rob Tornoe | August 18th, 2009 | PERMALINKEditorial cartoonist Milt Prigree (view Milt’s cartoons here) forwarded me a video from this year’s Association of American Editorial Cartoonists’ (AAEC) Convention.
The video features Halifax Chronicle-Herald cartoonist Bruce MacKinnon singing “Better Days,” a song he wrote about the plight of editorial cartoonists amid cutbacks and job eliminations.
For those of you into the popular sport of cartoonist-spotting, see if you can find Pigree, along with Pulitzer Prize-winner David Horsey, former Raleigh News & Observer staffer Dwayne Powell, Debbie Milbrath, Steven Artley and this year’s Locher Award-winner Jake Thompson.
Thanks go out to Hany Shams, who posted the video.

Don’t forget the other guitar heroes there, Bob Krieger from the Vancouver Province and Dwayne Powell who’s playing at the beginning of the video and then passes it over to Krieger. First heard this song at the ACEC Banff Convention last year. I think we made them play it twice. Great tune.

Hey Rob- You need to mention Bob Kreiger (Vancouver Province). I’m so glad our new friend from Egypt, Hany Shams, shot this and posted… soon to go viral!
